Tongue Twisters

An easy and fun way to improve difficult English sounds is to read aloud tongue-twisters.

You can find a wide selection of tongue twisters to use in class or for homework assignments in these websites:

Suggested activities

  1. Choose tongue twisters with difficult sounds for your students and assign them for home practice. Ideally, you should assign sound practice on the basis of the needs of your students.
  2. Ask students to choose their favorite tongue twister, practice it at home/in class, and when they think they have mastered it, read it aloud in class.
  3. Use the audio embedded in some of these websites as models for sound practice.
