An easy and fun way to improve difficult English sounds is to read aloud tongue-twisters.
You can find a wide selection of tongue twisters to use in class or for homework assignments in these websites:
- ESL Mania
- Word Power
- First International Collection of Tongue Twisters
- Pizzaz!... Tongue Twisters
- The Tongue Twister Database
Suggested activities
- Choose tongue twisters with difficult sounds for your students and assign them for home practice. Ideally, you should assign sound practice on the basis of the needs of your students.
- Ask students to choose their favorite tongue twister, practice it at home/in class, and when they think they have mastered it, read it aloud in class.
- Use the audio embedded in some of these websites as models for sound practice.
